Until early on Friday, several of Ukraine’s air defence systems were left without missiles, President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a January 16 press conference following his meeting with Czech President Petr Pavel.
However, supplies were replenished during the day, he added. He said that Ukraine has received a large number of different air defence systems since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, all of which require a constant flow of ammunition.
Zelensky noted that shortages affect not only Patriot systems, stressing that no single system is ever sufficient on its own. He said Ukraine received a significant new package of missiles on Friday morning. The president added that every missile shipment must be secured from European and American partners and that responsibility for delays should be shared across all countries involved, not placed on the United States alone.
