UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is weighing whether to join US President Donald Trump’s proposed Board of Peace for Gaza, a body proposed under the White House’s 20-point plan to end the Israel-Hamas war.
The board is expected to temporarily oversee Gaza’s administration and reconstruction and to include senior world leaders, though UK diplomats are seeking further clarity on its remit.
The Sunday Times reported that Sir Keir had been invited, but government sources told the BBC that no formal invitation has been received and no decision has been made. US media say Trump is likely to announce the board’s members this week, while former UK prime minister Sir Tony Blair is expected to serve on a separate executive board with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.
Although Blair previously described the US plans as the best chance to end the conflict, his precise role has been uncertain amid reports of objections from some Middle Eastern states.
