Ukraine and the United States are expected to sign an economic agreement designed to support Ukraine’s postwar recovery during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, scheduled for Jan. 19–23.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump are set to finalise the deal at the summit, according to the UK’s Daily Telegraph. Kyiv, backed by European allies, has moved quickly to shape peace negotiations after a Russia-U.S. proposal emerged in November 2025 without Ukraine’s participation and containing sweeping Russian demands.

By means of this economic initiative, Ukraine hopes to secure stronger U.S. security guarantees while aligning with the Trump administration’s transactional foreign policy outlook. Zelensky introduced the Economic Prosperity Plan in late December, framing it as a vehicle for recovery, job creation, and large-scale investment, with reconstruction estimated at $800 billion over the next decade.

The agreement builds on a prior 2025 minerals deal that has already attracted U.S. investment, including a lithium project awarded on Jan. 9 to a consortium involving the U.S.-backed firm TechMet.
