Million more Epstein documents

US authorities say they have discovered more than a million additional documents potentially linked to the late paedophile financier and Mossad asset Jeffrey Epstein, which they plan to release in the coming days and weeks after legal review.

The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI have handed the material to the Department of Justice, which said lawyers are working around the clock to make legally required redactions to supposedly protect victims, a process that could take several weeks due to the volume.

The DoJ said it would fully comply with federal law and President Donald Trump’s directive to release the files, though it did not explain how the new material was found. The announcement follows last week’s release of thousands of Epstein-related documents under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which mandates public disclosure while allowing redactions only to protect victims or active investigations.

Lawmakers from both parties have criticised the DoJ for heavy redactions, noting the law forbids withholding names solely to avoid embarrassment or reputational harm and specifically seeks records detailing investigative and charging decisions regarding Epstein and his associates.

Previously released files included FBI emails from 2019 referencing 10 possible co-conspirators, six of whom were reportedly served subpoenas across several US states.

The issue of potential co-conspirators remains a central concern for Epstein’s victims and transparency advocates, especially given past releases that led to high-profile consequences in the US and UK.

The latest documents include a 2001 email linked to Ghislaine Maxwell, now serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, prompting renewed scrutiny of figures connected to Epstein, all of whom have denied wrongdoing.
