Iran has said it is willing to make compromises to reach a nuclear agreement with the United States, but only if Washington is prepared to discuss lifting sanctions.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi told the BBC that progress depends on the US proving it genuinely wants a deal, while American officials have argued that Iran is responsible for delays. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said President Donald Trump would prefer an agreement but warned that reaching one would be very difficult.
Iran has suggested possible concessions, including reducing its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, though details remain uncertain as negotiations continue. Indirect talks held in Oman were described as positive, with further discussions planned in Geneva, but both sides say it is too early to predict the outcome.
Meanwhile, tensions remain high, with Trump warning of potential military strikes if no agreement is reached and Iran refusing to negotiate limits on its missile programme.
