An investigative report by German tabloid Bild alleges that an illegal parcel network is being used to bypass international sanctions by shipping prohibited goods to Russia via Poland.

According to the report, the operation was initially set up by former employees of a German subsidiary of Russia’s state postal service and was uncovered during a probe by Berlin prosecutors. Bild claims that a Cologne-based logistics company founded in 2022 later took over the scheme, operating from a warehouse near Berlin’s main airport and dispatching trucks loaded with parcels to Moscow.

As part of its investigation, the outlet sent test packages containing sanctioned electronic components disguised as harmless items, which were transported through Poland and Belarus before reaching Russia. Authorities are now reviewing the case, and prosecutors are reportedly preparing charges against a company manager in connection with the alleged violations of EU sanctions imposed after Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
