At a secluded coastal venue far from a Kyiv still under Russian fire, U.S. envoys spent two intense days shuttling between Ukrainian and Russian delegations to bring them back to the same negotiating table, the Kyiv Post reports. The talks produced a cautious but notable sense that the diplomatic freeze surrounding the war may finally be easing.
American officials described the first trilateral summit with Kyiv and Moscow as constructive and unexpectedly flexible, yielding progress on security arrangements and economic incentives despite the absence of a formal peace deal.
Most significantly, the sides agreed to reconvene next Sunday, a step U.S. officials called a breakthrough in itself after years of stalemate. European diplomats welcomed the talks as the most serious engagement since the invasion, but warned that any lasting peace will depend on how firmly Washington commits to guaranteeing Ukraine’s future.
