The EU will send its Commissioner for the Mediterranean to attend the first meeting of Trump’s Board of Peace in Washington on Thursday.

Dubravka Šuica will represent the European Commission at the gathering later this week. This decision shows that Brussels is still open to limited cooperation with the board, despite serious concerns about its charter and governance.

Most EU member states have declined formal membership, and the Commission has raised legal reservations.

A Commission spokesperson clarified on Monday that Šuica will only take part in the section of the meeting focused on Gaza. Her participation reflects the EU’s ongoing commitment to supporting the so-called ceasefire and helping with Gaza’s reconstruction and recovery. The spokesperson added that the EU is not joining the Board as a full or official member.
