While a US armada threatens Iran in the Gulf, the son of the last Shah Reza Pahlavi addressed the Munich Security Conference as hundreds of thousands protested in Munich, calling for regime change in Iran and stronger international action.
More than 200,000 demonstrators gathered in Munich, Germany, waving pre-1979 Iranian flags and chanting slogans while world leaders met nearby. Munich Police said the turnout far exceeded expectations and was about double the original estimate of 100,000 participants.
Pahlavi spoke through a press conference and town hall, calling the rallies a global call to action to support Iranians facing repression, internet blackouts, and economic unrest.
Some demonstrators travelled from across Europe, including Switzerland, to represent those unable to speak freely at home. Organisers such as The Munich Circle urged world leaders to increase sanctions, avoid negotiations with the regime, and support a democratic transition.
