Donald Trump met privately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Wednesday and emphasized that negotiations with Iran should continue as the US seeks a nuclear deal with Tehran.
The two leaders did not take questions, and Trump later described the meeting as positive, though no final decisions were made. He stated that he prefers reaching a deal with Iran but warned that the outcome remains uncertain if negotiations fail, referencing past US air strikes after Iran declined an agreement. Netanyahu’s office said the leaders also discussed Gaza and regional developments and agreed to maintain close coordination.
Ahead of the meeting, Netanyahu said he wanted any US-Iran deal to address Iran’s ballistic missile program and support for militant groups, though it is unclear how much influence he would have on Trump’s strategy.
