Russian FPV drones injured and hospitalised three children and a teenager during attacks in Ukraine’s southern Mykolaiv region, according to officials. The quadcopters struck near residential areas on Sunday evening, targeting children aged 3, 7, 10, and 17, who were later taken to hospital and later released.
Authorities said at least nine FPV drone attacks hit the region that day, mainly in coastal communities within 10–15 kilometres of Russian-occupied territory across the Dniprovska Zatoka bay. Officials also reported earlier cross-bay drone strikes that damaged civilian buildings and infrastructure but caused no casualties.
FPV drones, capable of carrying small explosive munitions over distances of up to 30 kilometres, have increasingly threatened frontline and rear communities alike. While Russia has recently focused heavy long-range strikes on Kyiv, Mykolaiv officials warn that attacks on energy infrastructure and civilians continue to expand to quieter regions.
