Denmark looks to arms industry partnerships in Ukraine

Denmark plans to cut direct military aid to Ukraine from $2.3 billion in 2025 to $1.3 billion in 2026, but this masks a shift toward deeper, long-term defence partnership.

Rather than relocating production, Denmark aims to integrate Ukrainian defence innovation with its own advanced industrial and technological expertise.

Strategic concerns—from Russian threats in the Baltic to Greenland’s Arctic significance—make Denmark’s defence posture critical for regional security. Denmark excels in industrial automation, advanced R&D, and intellectual property, offering high-value inputs rather than mass manufacturing.

Partnering with Ukraine allows Denmark to leverage proven military innovation while helping Ukrainian companies scale and meet NATO standards. This model aligns capital, technology, and strategic foresight, exploiting defence collaboration beyond simple aid.
