Israel’s army killed seven Palestinians in northern Gaza on Saturday, including a 70-year-old woman and her son who were pursued and attacked by a quadcopter drone hundreds of metres from any area claimed as no-go by the Israelis.
After weeks of silence as the so-called ceasefire fell apart, Qatar and Egypt, the guarantors of the Gaza ceasefire, urged the immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops and the deployment of an international force to enforce the fragile truce.
Machine-gun fire and drone strikes were reported in eastern Gaza City as Israeli forces crossed the unilaterally-decided “yellow line” ceasefire boundary. Since October 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 70,354 Palestinians and wounded 171,030, while 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7 attacks and about 200 were taken captive.
In the occupied West Bank, the Israeli army said its soldiers killed two people in Hebron after claiming they drove a car toward a checkpoint. Meanwhile, Israeli settlers carried out attacks near East Jerusalem, Hebron, and Bethlehem, including firing on homes in Kisan and storming the village under army protection.
