House Democrats on Wednesday released a set of photos and videos from Jeffrey Epstein’s private Caribbean island, offering a rare look inside the secretive location where he is alleged to have trafficked young girls.
The images show Epstein’s home, including bedrooms, an office or library area, a telephone, and a chalkboard with the words “fin,” “intellectual,” “deception,” and “power” written on it. One photo depicts a room with a dentist chair and masks on the wall, which The New York Times noted may relate to Epstein’s last girlfriend, a dentist who shared office space with one of his shell companies.
The videos appear to be a walk-through of the property and provide additional visual context. The materials, released by House Democrats, originated from law enforcement in the US Virgin Islands and were taken in 2020, a year after Epstein died by suicide in jail. Epstein owned two islands in the US Virgin Islands, including Little St James, which locals reportedly nicknamed “pedophile island.”
In 2022, the US Virgin Islands attorney general reached a settlement of over $100m with Epstein’s estate after alleging that dozens of young women and children were trafficked, assaulted, and held captive there. Although the newly released visuals do not reveal fresh information, they appear to reflect congressional pressure on the Trump administration ahead of a 19 December deadline for the justice department to release related files, while lawmakers also requested a status update from Attorney General Pam Bondi.
