US President Donald Trump has directed the Justice Department to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s connections to several major banks and prominent Democratic lawmakers, in a move that if successful must rank as one of the most adroit political moves in modern history.

The order follows the release of newly published congressional emails linked to Epstein’s personal accounts. These emails, made public by the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, show Epstein communicating with well-known entrepreneurs, politicians, and influencers both in the U.S. and abroad.

Trump accused Democrats of trying to revive what he called the “Epstein hoax.” He argued that they are using the issue to distract from what he described as their policy failures and the “shutdown embarrassment.” According to Trump, the Democratic Party is currently in “total disarray.”

He also repeated his claim that Epstein was a supporter of the Democrats. Trump asserted that Epstein is “the Democrats’ problem, not the Republicans’ problem.” He urged the public to question figures like Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, and Larry Summers about their associations with Epstein.

In another statement, Trump announced that he has instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Epstein’s ties to Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman.
